Simon A Martin Accountants is a family-owned business in Honiton. It is owned by Dean and Claire Barrow who purchased the company from Simon Martin in 2021. Dean has been in accountancy for 30 years and Claire is Chartered Tax Advisor. Simon continues to work in the business along with a team of eight people.
The company offers a full range of accountancy services from personal to corporate: tax returns; bookkeping and company accounts: business advice; VAT, Payroll and trust compliance. They use Sage Accounting Software which can be linked to your bank account and provide monthly subscription fees to avoid large bills once a year.

I would like to thank Simon A Martin for coming to my rescue last year when I had to file my company accounts before a December 31st deadline. My bookkeeper had everything ready but wasn’t qualified to do the filing and I was about to go on holiday abroad. I asked friends for recommendations and Dean Barrow was the name that kept coming up.
A quick drive to Honiton resulted and I got to meet Mark Rich, the business manager for Simon A Martin… I thought, well with a name like ‘Rich’ I must be in the right place! Mark was very efficient and managed to squeeze a checklist of documents out of me at speed. Talk about efficient onboarding.
Moreover, Dean delivered my accounts on time, enabling me to go away without worrying about a fine from Companies House. He also went on to do my tax return, making some wise adjustments to ensure I was paying the right amount.
Then I got to meet Claire Barrow and heard about their discounted accounting software partnership offer. I decided to migrate from Quickbooks to Sage. It was a no-brainer really as it was a cost saver of around £240 per year. The migration was automatic and since then Claire has worked on our account personally to see everything is in order.
