Overview
InFocus Charity is a national organisation, based in Devon, that dedicates itself to transforming the lives of young individuals with visual impairments and complex needs.
According to Laurence Blyth who is Director of Income Generation and Business Development at InFocus, “The charity is committed to being a beacon of hope, propelling young minds towards realising their full potential.”
This is achieved via tailored empowerment programmes; a meticulously designed training and rehabilitation catering to unique needs, fostering independence, self-advocacy, and applicable life skills; and holistic support services. These include specialised education, mobility training, therapies, employability assistance, Braille and Access Technology support, healthcare, and others.
Many local companies support InFocus Charity as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. This could mean participating in a charity skydive, like fit20 and CapTech have done which is a great team building initiative. ‘A walk on the blind side’ is another popular fundraising option for companies where individuals are sponsored to walk blindfolded for a mile. InFocus is also a great option for companies to choose as their ‘Charity of the Year’.
Laurence is an active member of Exeter City Wall BNI Chapter which supports InFocus as its official charity.
